When the first teachers I had asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I replied, "I am an artist." It had already been written onto my bones. Since my youth I have pursued manifold creative endeavors, from creating 30-foot tall fully functioning catapults out of wood, to riding to South America on a giant unicycle, to creating a children's book completely illustrated with my feet. Each time, I ruled out all the impossibilities. Now, as a professional artist and creator, I strive to crack expectations wide open – others' expectations of themselves and the world as well as my own expectations of my own self and the world. I do this with the help of imagery often paired with words. I have published two children's books, two divination decks, a card game, a memoir, and a book of poetry. I also run a small-scale business which sells my greetings cards designs and vinyl stickers. Since 2019 I have also worked as a street poet in downtown Asheville, NC, engaging with walk-up clients by asking questions and typing a poem on a vintage typewriter.
My art business has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.
I grew up in the woods of Missouri building forts in trees and giant fully functioning catapults that launch rocks hundreds of feet. Between 2013 and 2018, I traveled through 30 states and all of Central America on a large unicycle. All of this adventure has filled me to the brim with images I then translate onto the pages. All of it inspires my inner wild animal to express and create.
I majored in Interdisciplinary Sculpture at the MD Institute College of Art, where I learned welding, woodworking, and ceramics. Through college and beyond, I honed my skills in drawing, painting, and printmaking, all of which now form the backbone of my artistry. The style and subject matter I have become known locally for, though, is wildlife drawn with whimsy and collaged onto abstract backgrounds.
In 2016, I was invited to design murals for two rooms in the Lost Inn San Gil Hotel in Colombia. In 2018, I created a 750 sq ft outdoor mural for the City of Charlotte, in Huntersville, NC and in 2019 I was invited back and commissioned a second mural, in Pineville NC.
